Fourth grade science fair projects are cool when you start to use Graphs and Charts
You will find that most schools start having kids do fourth grade science fair projects. This can be a lot of fun for the kids, but it can also be overwhelming. It is a lot to learn how do do!
What you want is for the kids to pay attention to doing the actual experiment, and learning the steps to the scientific method, by making a prediction, collecting the data and writing a conclusion. Any project worth its salt at this stage will include a built in spreadsheet with all the calculation codes built in. One day down the line they will learn how to build their own spreadsheet, but for now, one less worry the better.
Here are some cool things charts and graphs do for your fourth grade science fair projects…
- For one, it helps the kids see a picture that can hook up with the numbers. Numbers mean more to 4th graders when they can see that is a lot or a little bit more or less. A bar graph or a pie chart is great for all of that.
- Another thing is that it gives a clear, neat way to keep track of the data. You can flip between different kinds of charts and graphs and pick the one you like best, or ones that makes the most sense to you.
- Sometimes you need to do calculations like finding averages, and although by 4th grade you have learned how to do that, formulas in a fourth grade science fair projects spreadsheet can do it for you.
- It is easy for others to understand the results as they walk around the science fair when there are charts and graphs.
